Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, has spent the last few years going through a massive renovation. Progress had been carrying on at a brisk pace, but within the past few months preparation turned into a dead sprint; several electrical contractors were on the project and time was of the essence to get everything finished by opening day. One of the contractors placed a very large XHHW wire order with Crescent Electric on Friday, February 12th that had to be delivered to their shop on Friday, February 19th for a weekend installation at Wrigley Field.

Our purchasing department placed the wire order with a required receiving date of Wednesday, February 17th, allowing Crescent Electric plenty of time to cut the wire, put it on reels in the required put ups, and deliver it by the 19th. Our expediting team kept close tabs on the order status. Unfortunately, the manufacturer reported that the wire was flagged in quality control and would not be received until well past the 19th. We immediately began contacting our other wire suppliers, but no one could meet the deadline. Then Crescent Electric heard back from Service Wire.

On Thursday, February 18th, Service Wire was able to manufacture, cut, and ship the XHHW wire out of their West Virginia facility. The wire arrived in Crescent Electric's Elk Grove branch on Friday, February 19th at 11:22 a.m. Our wire experts were able to cut the wire in custom put ups and transfer it to jobsite-friendly reels. The delivery was that afternoon to the contractor's satisfaction. Wrigley Field was on track to be ready for today's game.
